About Us

Christine Harvey is the contract manager for BM Metals Services and the Milman Industries Group of Companies. In addition, she manages the marketing activities for the Group. Christine has successfully completed the Business Administration program at Cambrian College and has received her Honours Bachelor of Commerce and Masters in Business Administration from Laurentian University. Christine is an advocate of supporting local organizations and initiatives. She believes that great accomplishments and advanced research doesn’t just come from big cities. She believes it also comes from deep rooted cities like Sudbury where all of its community members strive together to reach a common goal of community advancement and national recognition by supporting its local organizations.

Samantha Kuula is a strategist fueled by curiosity and the desire to build an engaged and science-literate community, working to equip people to understand the changing world. Samantha started her career at SNOLAB over 15 years ago and is now the Director of Corporate Services Division. She holds degrees in Biology and Science Communication with additional formal training in Strategic Planning, Crisis Communications, Project Management, and Risk Management, and has completed a Masters of Science in Technology and Innovation Management at Wilfrid Laurier University. At SNOLAB, Samantha manages the internal and external-facing corporate services including EHS, IT, HR, communications and education & outreach. As part of the senior leadership team, she also heads large internal projects, manages the User Support group that assists all international facility users and has been appointed chair of the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion task force.

Samantha sits on two volunteer boards as well as dedicating time as a pet therapy dog handler and soccer coach. Samantha is a partner to Kevin and parent to Rebecca, Cecily and Oliver.

Dr. Kristy Côté, Ph.D. is the Administrative Director, Family Medicine & Strategic Advisor to the President at NOSM University. Kristy is a strong advocate for health research in the North. Her doctoral thesis focused on the lived experiences of Francophone prostate cancer patients from Northeastern Ontario and her ongoing work with NOSM University centers on the establishment of comprehensive approach to the discipline of Family Medicine at NOSM U, across the continuum of academic learning. As Strategic Advisor to the President, she provides deliberate administrative leadership to support the development of stakeholder relations across NOSM U’s dynamic collaborative networks.

As an education leader recognized for the ability to collaborate with broad and diverse partners to deliver results in situations with little precedent, Dr. Côté is an experienced leader with over twenty years experience in university sector management, strategic planning, human resources management including managing complex teams, motivating distributed teams with successful outcomes, and building solid engagement with strong community partnerships.

Dr. Côté is the staff-elected member of the NOSM University Board of Governors and an active member of the Council of Ontario Faculties of Medicine & Family Medicine (COFM & FM) Committee. Kristy is a dedicated supporter of our Northern Ontario communities, a proud Francophone, and an honoured member of the Métis Nation of Ontario with Treaty 5 ancestry.

Melissa Bouffard is a Partner and Chief Financial Officer at Baker Tilly SNT, one of Northern Ontario’s largest accounting, tax, and advisory firms. She is responsible for overseeing financial, strategic, and operational matters as well as consulting for clients. After graduating from Laurentian University with Honours, Melissa obtained her CPA, CA designation in 2012 while working in Toronto.

Melissa brings with her many years of both public accounting and private industry experience across multiple industries. Melissa’s expertise includes financial management and reporting, accounting and taxes, overall business strategy, human resources, and process & policy development and improvement.

In her free time, she loves to travel and spend time with family and friends. She is married to Phil and they have two daughters, Ella and Abbey.

Debbie is the Chief Financial Officer for the Sudbury Credit Union. In that role she is responsible for overseeing the financial and technical success of Sudbury Credit Union. Debbie is a dynamic member of the senior management team, contributing regularly to the strategic direction of the organization. Debbie has been a member of the Northern Cancer Foundation Board of Directors since 2014 and also serves on the Finance and Audit Committees.

Helene is the Associate Dean in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Architecture at Laurentian University. Helen has been on the Northern Cancer Foundation Board of Directors since 2013 and is a member of the Grants and Allocations Committee. Helene has a strong commitment to supporting and advancing local cancer research.

Ian Lane is the Executive Director of the Northern Ontario Angels.  With a diverse career, he works to foster connections between entrepreneurs and angel investors across Northern Ontario with the goal of stimulating economic development for the region.  Prior to moving back to Northern Ontario in 2012, Ian was the Manager of Policy Development and Settlement in the Ministry of Innovation and Advanced Learning with the Government of Prince Edward Island.  From 2015-2021, Ian was the Manager of Research Capacity and Health Innovation with the Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI) where he helped researchers attract funding and provided strategic planning support. He has volunteered his grant writing skills to various community and non-for-profit organizations in Ontario and Prince Edward Island. He still enjoys playing music, skiing, hockey, golf, tennis, and the odd sail.

Dan Gray is Past Chair of Health Sciences North Foundation (2022) and is currently Secretary of Northern Cancer Foundation.

2021 was my 5th time being Past Chair of the Sudbury Real Estate Board. I was owner of Remax Sudbury for 15 years then upgraded to EXP Realty in 2021.

Married to Suzanne Gray and we have two sons, Kyle and Kelston and 3 grandsons Hudson, Chandler and Easton.

With over 30 years’ experience in assorted Committees and Directors appointments to Executive roles in various areas in the Timmins and Temiskaming Shores areas then onto Sudbury. Economic development and fundraising have been a huge part of my service in the Northeastern communities outside Sudbury.

During my years with the Sudbury Real Estate Board, I received excellent leadership training (OREA) and a wonderful Mentor gave me the skills to succeed up to the Executive level and I became President in 2015.

In 2016 we moved away for five years and returned to Sudbury in 2021. My Past offices included Education, Public Relations, Finance, Member of the Political Action Committee, in addition to President.

The last successfully completed were Strategic Plan and New Service Provider for the Board area. Negotiations were successfully completed and on time. New Member Orientation, and Increasing the Board and its Memberships’ Presence in the community, just to name a few.

I have two grown sons, one beautiful daughter-in-law and the bonus of two grandchildren.

Yonaniko S. Grenon (Iyo) is currently Senior Communications Specialist for Glencore’s Sudbury
Integrated Nickel Operations and is currently responsible for the development of the Company’s
communication initiatives internally and externally. She is also facilitating community relations – engagement and partnerships – that are aligned with the Company’s Sustainable Development framework and Community Social Investment programs.

Iyo joins Glencore’s Sudbury from New Caledonia, South Pacific, where she completed a four-year
assignment as Director of External Affairs with Glencore’s Koniambo Nickel project.

A graduate of the University of Kansas with a double major in Journalism and French Literature, Iyo is a communication professional with over 28 year experience in high level crisis management, media and community engagement.

Her other international mining experiences include working for Freeport-McMoRan Inc., New Orleans, Louisiana, PT Freeport Indonesia, and PT Newmont Pacific Nusantara, affiliates of Newmont Mining Corp, United States.

Iyo’s work experience in Sudbury includes taking part in the early development of the newest medical school in town and took up a role as Communications Officer – East for the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

An active community member, Iyo is currently member of Board of Directors for Cultural Industries Ontario North (Music and Film in Motion), and member of Board of Directors of YES Theatre, both local non-share, not-for-profit corporation. She is also Chair of Ontario Mining Association’s Communications Committee. She currently heads the Indonesian Society, Northern Ontario Chapter, based in Sudbury.

Iyo was formerly Board Member and Vice Chair of the Greater Sudbury Development Corporation, the economic development arm of the City of Greater Sudbury.

Céline Roy is the Director of Finance for Science North, Northern Ontario’s most popular tourist attraction. As the Director of Finance, Céline provides oversight of the centre’s finance, project management, front of house, sales, and facilities teams. Following her undergraduate studies in Business Administration, concentration in accounting, at Nipissing University, Céline received her CPA, CMA designation in 2015.

As a member of the senior executive team at Science North, Céline provides insight and strategic direction supporting the centre’s financial wellbeing. She excels in out-of-the-box thinking, innovative problem solving and communicating complex financial matters across all levels of the organization.

Céline is a proud mother of two, and in her downtime enjoys exploring the great outdoors with  her family.

Hello! My name is Mackenzie Straub and I recently graduated from Laurentian University
with a Bachelor of Science. This fall I will be attending NOSM University as a medical student.
While I was born in Sudbury, I was mostly raised in Sturgeon Falls and returned to Sudbury for
school. I am indigenous and bilingual and certainly hold great pride being from the north. I
enjoy camping, skiing, hiking and spending time with my friends and family. Joining the Northern
Cancer Foundation will enrich my knowledge and experience not only in fundraising, governance
and event organization but will help me fulfill a meaningful role in my community. I am looking
forward to being able to dedicate my time to a most wonderful cause.

David McNeil, PhD – President and Chief Executive Officer of Health Sciences North

David McNeil is a Sudbury native and most recently, he served as the President and CEO of Brant Community Healthcare System. Prior to this role, he was the Chief Nursing Executive and Senior Vice President, Patient Services and Digital Transformation at Health Sciences North.

David has a PhD in Rural and Northern Health from Laurentian University, a Masters in Health Administration from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Laurentian University.

His experience includes working as a front-line nurse in Attawapiskat and the former Laurentian Hospital and Network North. He has worked as a Nursing Educator, Quality Coordinator / Professional Practice Consultant and Clinical Director of the Medical Program, Corporate Director of Planning and Environmental Services, and as a Part-Time Professor at Cambrian College.

He has served as President and Chair for the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, a Board Member of the Canadian Nurses Association and as Chair of the Cambrian College Board of Governors.

Anthony Keating is an award-winning Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) who has served in fundraising leadership roles over the past 14 years with Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Kids Help Phone, Seneca College and the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. John’s, Newfoundland. Most recently, he served as Campaign Director, Major Gifts, at The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in Toronto where he successfully co-led a $50 million research campaign to completion a year ahead of schedule, and was also responsible for raising millions of dollars for Malignant Hematology priorities. In 2010, he received the “New to Fundraising Professional of the Year” award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Anthony is an active community member who has volunteered with the Boys and Girls Clubs of St. John’s, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation, and is currently a Director with the Roberta Bondar Foundation.

In Anthony’s role he will oversee each of the three Foundations, and the Volunteer Association. He will also supervise HSN’s Volunteer Services and serve on the senior leadership teams of HSN and HSNRI, ensuring a strong alignment with health care needs in Northeastern Ontario.
